Bimetallic Extruded Finned Tube with Aluminum Fins: The Ultimate Solution for Efficient Heat Transfer

Unlike conventional finned tubes where fins are simply wrapped or embedded, the extrusion process creates an integral structure with no mechanical joint between the fin and the tube. The aluminum outer layer fully encapsulates the base tube (except at the bare ends), providing complete corrosion protection while delivering exceptional thermal transfer efficiency.

Principle of Extrusion Process: Aluminum billets are extruded onto the surface of the base pipe through high temperature and high pressure, forming a seamless metallurgical bond without the need for welding or adhesives.

Datang produces Extruded Fin Tubes which are manufactured by cold rotary extrusion process. The Extruded Fin is formed from an outer aluminium tube with a large wall thickness, which is aligned over an inner base tube. The two tubes are pushed through three arbors with rotating discs that literally squeeze or extrude the aluminium fins up and out of the muff material in a spiral shape in one operation. The process of extrusion hardens the fins and prevents dissimilar metal contacts at the fin root. The exposed external surface is aluminium and there are no minute gaps between adjacent fins where moisture can penetrate. This ensures good efficiency that is expected when using an extended surface for heat transfer. During the finning process a tight mechanical bond is made between the finned aluminium outer tube and inner base tube of the required metal.

Aluminum Copper Alloys Extruded Finned Tube

Extruded Finned Tube is made from mono extruded copper alloys. Fins are up to 0.400″ (10mm) high. Extruded fin tubes are formed helically out of a mono-metal tube. The result is an integrally formed finned tube with an excellent fin-to-tube uniformity providing exceptional efficiency and longevity. Whether rough service, high temperatures, or corrosive environment, extruded fin tubes are a great option for heat exchanger applications. High Finned Tubes can be annealed to a soft state for bending and coiling. This type of product is excellent for heating, refrigeration, machinery coolers, water-heaters, and boilers.
